We’re looking for a driven and commercially minded Service Development Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our Community Diagnostic Centre in Oxford.
This is a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of NHS partnership working, innovation and service growth, designing and delivering new diagnostic services that improve patient experience, reduce waiting times and meet the evolving needs of both NHS and private healthcare.
If you’re passionate about healthcare innovation, enjoy building services from concept to delivery, and thrive in complex, collaborative environments, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
As Service Development Lead, you will be responsible for the growth, sustainability and diversification of the CDC service portfolio. You’ll work closely with OUH clinicians, commissioners and internal teams to design and implement new clinical and non-clinical services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying, designing and launching new diagnostic pathways and services that improve access, efficiency and patient outcomes.
- Developing growth strategies across both NHS and private service lines.
- Building and managing strong relationships with key stakeholders, including OUH, ICBs, GP practices, insurers and private providers.
- Leading end-to-end project management of new services, from concept and business case through to operational delivery and performance monitoring.
- Exploring and implementing innovative technologies and digital solutions, including AI-assisted reporting and remote pathways.
- Negotiating and managing commercial partnerships and contracts.
- Ensuring all service developments meet regulatory, quality and governance standards (including NHS and CQC frameworks).
- Using data and performance insights to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Preparing reports and presentations for senior leadership and partner boards.
- Managing and developing teams to deliver high-quality services and outcomes.
This is a part time role, working 25 hours per week predominantly on site at our CDC Oxford premises.
About You
You’ll be someone who brings both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery. You’ll have:
- A degree-level qualification in business, healthcare management or a related field.
- Proven experience in healthcare service development, project management or operational improvement ideally within the NHS or a community healthcare setting.
- A strong understanding of NHS structures, commissioning and diagnostic pathways.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Commercial awareness, with the ability to balance NHS partnership objectives with sustainable growth.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, with a data-driven approach.
- The confidence to manage change and deliver measurable outcomes.
Experience in diagnostics, community diagnostic centres, private/self-pay services, digital health or innovation funding would be an advantage, but is not essential.
Why Work with Us?
Our CDC offers a competitive salary, performance related bonus, and a range of benefits including private healthcare, electric vehicle schemes, and a £500 annual learning and development budget. You’ll also enjoy 33 days of annual leave, free parking and access to onsite facilities.
